| I am proud to be participating in the Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative, a program to raise awareness and fund research for Alzheimers disease. It has two parts: a traveling art quilt exhibit interpreting Alzheimers in fiber art that will tour the US for three years, and an on-going sale of small art quilts. All proceeds will go to Alzheimers research. The prospectus is now online if you would like to submit a quilt for the traveling exhibit, Alzheimers: Forgetting Piece by Piece. The deadline is June 5th.
Donation quilts will be gratefully accepted at any time for Priority: Alzheimers quilts. These are small quilts, with a maximum size of 9 x 12 to fitt inside of a USPS priority mailer without folding, hence the name. Auctions are now scheduled for the first 10 days of each month. There are 4.5 million Americans with Alzheimers disease. It is NOT a normal part of aging. AD is a progressive brain disorder that destroys brain cells and robs a person of their memories, the ability to reason, to learn, and to take care of themselves. It is always fatal and there is no cure. From onset of symptoms, most Alzheimers patients live an average of eight years and as many as 20 years. Please help me support the initiative by visiting www.AlzQuilts.com and by sharing the important work the Alzheimers Art Quilt Initiative with others.
